FDE Launches Evening Shifts to Enroll Out-of-School Children in ICT

In a groundbreaking initiative, the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has announced the launch of evening shifts in schools across the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). This effort is part of the broader campaign titled “Enrolment, Retention, and Progression of Out of School Children (OOSC) in ICT.” The primary aim is to provide educational opportunities to children who have, for various reasons, been unable to attend regular day school.

Key Features of the Program:

  1. Qualified Teachers: Ensuring that children receive the best education, the program boasts a cadre of highly qualified and experienced teachers dedicated to evening classes.
  2. Activity-Based Learning: The program incorporates innovative teaching methods, emphasizing activity-based learning to engage students actively and make learning more effective and enjoyable.
  3. Modern Facilities:
  • IT Labs: Schools equipped with state-of-the-art IT labs will provide students access to essential digital resources, bridging the digital divide and enhancing their technological skills.
  • Smart Classrooms: Leveraging modern educational technology, smart classrooms are designed to create an interactive learning environment, making lessons more dynamic and accessible.
  • Robotic Labs: To foster creativity and problem-solving skills, robotic labs are part of the curriculum, giving students hands-on experience with modern technology.
  • Libraries: Well-stocked libraries will support students’ academic growth by providing a wealth of resources and a quiet space for study.

The Importance of Evening Shifts:

This initiative is a significant step towards inclusive education, ensuring that all children in ICT have access to quality education regardless of their circumstances. Evening shifts are particularly beneficial for children who may be working during the day, have family obligations, or have fallen behind academically and need a flexible learning schedule.

The introduction of evening classes aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to “Unlocking the Doors of Education for Every Child,” a slogan that underpins their mission to create educational opportunities for all children in Pakistan.
