Prof. Dr. Ikram Ali

Incipient trend of substituting financial with knowledge capital calls for re-tailoring of existing educational approach comprising routine ways of thinking and learning to creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and decision making approach – departure from traditional contents learning to refurbishing of contents through learning tools and skills to become a creator or producer to match in-house talent with growing market needs. To reciprocate the change, there is growing realization about qualitative progression of our education system – a triangular phenomenon comprising curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. What the need of hour is to have paradigm shift in our  education system by revisiting and enriching curricula with  skill rather than content base critical thinking; embracing  skills focused pedagogy with training to acclimatize in diverse working environment;  meaningful evaluation and certification system, and accountability of key stakeholders. Federal Directorate of Education – FDE is conscious of its onerous responsibility of imparting quality education to more than 243,000 students in 432 institutions situated in rural and urban areas of the federal capital. Honest efforts of federal government to revamp the current education system through modernized uniform curriculum, increased investment, transfer of technology, moral suasion and accountability of key stakeholders (teachers, learners, parents, government officials) towards promotion of 21st century skills are likely to transform Federal Directorate of Education as Showcase for Quality Education and Good Governance to be followed by others.
